    beetle on grass

Took this mid year but only just got around to doing anything with it - a bit of sharpening and tweaks around the highlights and saturation etc.

Was going for simplicity and space - the feeling of just waiting for the beetle to fly

    beetle on grass

    C&C welcome as always.

    Very successful I think.
Not just another bug shot for me. This really grabs me for its beetle-oid existentialism.
Here commences the saga of being for a small protagonist. Beetle sets forth. Intrepid and in solitude, into void without edge.
    Cool, and sweet.

A very nice composition, and perfect background, but it doesn't seem all that sharp. Did you crop a lot to get to this level of magnification?

Thank you David, Nick, Binnur, Vaez, appreciated.

Thanks Dan, its about a 50% crop but it was a touch soft to start with
The image was taken on a 150mm macro lens at f9 iso 320 1/400th sec hand held, but with that lens the depth of field was pretty shallow and it was breezy took a few as it was waving about a bit - this was the best of them.

I love the simplicity of this composition, Mark, especially when viewed in lytebox. I think Mark (Downrigger) nailed when he describes it as "beetle-oid existentialism".

+10 to Mark (Downrigger) comment. Well! if anything, your shot brought out the poet in Mark's character... Cool and nice shot, clean I should say clean and simple...

    Re: beetle on grass

Thank you Greg, Jim, John, Izzie, glad you like it - I was pleased with it, It is a 'style' I will be looking to work on as to capture the essence of the subject in the overall frame rather than my usual macro bug record shots.
