Wow ... as they say. In there competing with Josef Hoflehner's 'Jet Airliner' gallery.
Dramatic image.
Does that qualify for Bird IN Flight?
Very nice shot Graham,
Right place at the right time, excellent Graham.
Thats too close for comfort!
Cool shot though!
cool picture - bet he / she parks it pretty tight too
Looks like a dramatic reportage shot that can weave around many different stories about the plane hitting the trees -- it was too low -- or did everyone survived the accident sort of thing? Excellent shot!
Graham...that is not a "spur of the moment shot" suggesting that it is a routine landing, in their eyes.
Dramatic shot nonetheless!
Thanks for the comments everyone.
You're correct, it's not spur of the moment from my viewpoint. If you go to Google Earth and search for 37 41.456S 144 50.482E you'll see exactly where I was. This is not quite lined up with runway 34 but I moved to this spot because I realised after watching a couple of aircraft land that this would be the spot to get the most dramatic shot through/over the trees.
One could almost wave to the captain. Impressive shot. I see you used an 85mm lens - I'm surprised it compressed like that, or was the plane just really close?
Very nice and dramatic shot Graham
All of your planning certainly paid off with this shot Graham!
