Wow! I really like the second image Mark. I just wish it had a bit more breathing room as it feels cramped in the frame.
What kind of a bird is that?
Really great bird-in-flight shot. Was the first one a photo originally? I have seen pictures of this kind of bird a few times but I still don't know what it's called, if I did I've forgotten.
It is a photo original. I took the photo of a Gannet at Muriwai in Auckland NZ last week. A bit pp work - sharpening, saturation and warmth etc. Applied a motion blur filter layer mask. Applied a gradient to the mask to stop the head blurring. Converted to 8bit and applied a cs6 filter gallery effect. VOILA.
Both of them terrific images, Mark.
I like #2 better. I think the shot is really good here -- beautiful big headed birdie too. Unusual pose..
Excellent shots. Although I prefer the second one the treatment you've given the first one is very striking.
I'd also like to see more room around the bird in the second shot but I wasn't there so don't know what stray objects were present to prevent that.
Absolutely gorgeous! (2nd image) I appreciate the artistry of the first image but adore the 2nd image simply for the beautiful in flight capture of a such a beautiful bird.
