And so much more, nicely captured and explanation required...identification, etc.
Nice shot, Brian. That thing looks like it is turbo-charged.
Okay, Identification: it's a spider! explanation: About 6 months ago a wind gust blew the large satellite dish that I was going to use to listen to the thunderstorms on Jupiter into the area outside our kitchen where the waterfall may one day go. Today She Who Must Be Obeyed spotted six cocoonish beasties (pictures to follow) on the underside of the dish. When I went out to shoot the cocoonish things I saw this lady. And I believe she is hanging upside down under her web?
In the curled up position she is about 1/2 inch across, her web is clear, and she doesn't scare easy!

Very nice shot Brian![]()
That has to be one of the most interesting bugs so far this year Brian.
Interesting critter - looks like it might bite. That might explain why it doesn't scare easily.

Hi Brian..i havent been on CiC in ages and saw thsi image now...its AMAZING...i live in South Africa and have almost eh exact same type of spider image. I have no clue what it is..this is first time ive seen anythign like it..i will send a image in few minutes to compare....i have one where u actually see the "string come out its abdomen.
Ok..now that i looked again its not quite the same but there are similarities..this were taken very quick so please dont judge me on em, they more jus outta interest and rushed PP.
Wat i find amazing is on 2nd one u see the web from mouth forward and also from the abdomen to the back leg...could anyone explain?
This thing looked seriously vicious..i usually have no fear for any insects..most times i get as close as i like..this one had me on edge though.
Apologies for posting in your post Brian..i just find it amazing that they seem so similar and that we are so far apart.
No apologies needed. I think of CiC as a place to learn and to share. Your shots compliment mine and belong in this thread. I may be entirely out to lunch but here is my guess: I think she is building her web. The thread is coming out of her 'abdomen' and being formed by her front legs?
And while you are right that they are not identical they are certainly close enough to be kissing cousins or maybe pale / female?
