Trying a landscape with my Nikon P330

Hi. I've been away for some time, due to a job rush.

On last September I bought a Nikon P330, which is a compact camera with all the manual controls and some interesting features (PSAM modes, F/1.8, shoots RAW, ISO 3200/Hi1/Hi2, etc). I bought it for its size and to start some sort of street photography (something I never did seriously). The thing is, after about 300 shots, which was only family shots, it presented a malfunction (a dark stain on the right upper side of the images) before I could really make proper use of it. I sent it back to Nikon and it has been repaired under warranty. I received it back, in perfect conditions (thanks, Nikon), and this afternoon I tried some landscape with it.

Considering it is a compact device that really fits in my pocket, I quite liked this first results. The subject is just a lake close to where I live, nothing great, but served me for this golden hour shot. I hope you like my small toy's result. C&C welcomed, as always. Cheers!

Pretty good shot for a 12mpx camera...you take beautiful shots no matter what camera you use actually. 'Can't wait to see your street photography stuff...must warn Phil about you...

Otavio - for years I used to carry around a 4 or 5MP point and shoot camera in my briefcase so that I always had it with me should a photo op present itself. So long as the lighting was reasonable and the subject wasn't moving (it had a terrible shutter delay) I was able to get some very decent shots. On the other hand, the moment the shooting conditions were less than ideal, forget about it.

I think the who iPhoneography movement out there today is taking this principle to an extreme. There is a lot of truth that the person standing behind the camera is what is most important in getting a great image. But only if the shooting conditions are good...

And what's wrong with 12MP?!?!? I got my wife a predecessor to this camera (the P310) and it holds up OK. The 330 should be OK for street in good light.

I am not saying there is nothing wrong with a 12mp, Phil. My husband has one and it is also a Nikon P something with PASM. He has not allowed me to use it because I keep changing stuffs in the menu. I said what I said because he will be going into street photography which is your territory...You do such good jobs in it I consider you one of the best, if not the best at it. So much to say for me.

Hello, Izzie. Thanks for viewing and commenting. Well, dont expect nothing close to Phil's results from me, with regards to street photography. I only wish to have some fun with it, while Phil is a great street photographer.

    Cheers,

Glad to hear that, Phil. I really believe it will do a good job (under good light). Thanks for passing by.
