Winter Solstice Sunrise
An early morning trip to the harbour did not yield the hoped-for clear cloudless shot of Mid-Winter's Day sunrise but the pastel shades and atmosphere of calm were difficult to resist for this and several others.
Season's greetings to all!

Very nice, Neville...that you went out so early to photograph this place is well worth it. Beautiful shot.

Many thanks John, Matt, Nancy and Izzie for your kind comments. I often wonder at how time of day and weather changes can transform a scene from the mundane to something quite magical.
This is another from inside the harbour just a few minutes earlier.

Great light in both, Neville. Beautifully exposed. I think it was chilly - I think you captured that too.

Re: Winter Solstice Sunrise
Neville the second one is too beautiful to even put in words. And I like what Matt said -- capturing the chilliness of the weather too. What I like most apart from the perspective is the cloud's colour hitting the water too. Exquisite???

Re: Winter Solstice Sunrise
Thank you so much Mark, Izzie and Binnur. It was cold but you don't notice the cold when the magic starts. The harbour at Courtown in North County Wexford is within 5 minutes drive of my home and the opportunities for sea scapes are excellent with a varied coastline. St.George's Channel which runs between Co.Wexford in Ireland and the coast of England and Wales often takes the full force of Atlantic storms. So the moods vary between serene calmness and violent storms.
Peace and best wishes to all.

Re: Winter Solstice Sunrise
I think #1 is excellent, finely captures the moment. Just two minor suggestions: On the building on the far right, in the window is an orange glow/light, I might try cloning that out; and on the building itself there are two billboards or some kind of signage, maybe toning them down to be less obvious. Otherwise a very timeless shot.

Many thanks guys. Thanks for suggestions about additional pp Jack. Something to play with over the holiday.
