Ice
Yesterday I was hiking beside a lake in Colorado. It was covered with a thin layer of ice with nice crystal patterns. But added to that was a bubble under the ice, and it was breaking up the light into its component parts. It was as if it were a gem under the ice. I have never seen anything like this before. Thought I wouIld share it in CIC. Best if looked at in Litebox.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!

Re: Ice
That's so new to me that I wouldn't have known what caused the appearance if you hadn't explained it. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Ice
Thanks for the comments. I forgot to mention that it was about 14 inches across.

Re: Ice
Happy Holidays Chuck!
That's pretty cool and a good shot of it. I've seen lots of air bubbles under ice but never one like this one either.

Re: Ice
Exactly the words that first came to mine as Carol's...diamond in the rough.

Re: Ice
Thank you all for all the comments and good wishes. If anyone is interested I could tell you how it was done. Then you could experiment if you would like - if you live where lakes freeze over.
Once again - Happy Holidays to all.

That is beautiful, Chuck.
I'd certainly like to know how it was done.
My very best wishes to you and your family at this time.
