One way to accomplishing that is to move the pixel-pitch un-changed from Canon's miserly 1.6 crop sensor size up to a full-frame sensor size. A quick and easy way to "maintain pixel quality" without re-designing the sensor pixel layout in any way. Not very well-explained but I hope y'all get it . . .

Dah...sounds like you're saying they're just upping the 7D MKII sensor size to that of a FF sensor.
Works for me...still wind up with 50MP with a 7D MKII performance.
