An old photographer, over primed on Christmas cheer to the point he will shoot anything that is not moving, deserves no better!But any comment would be appreciated, if only to induce the old fool to see the error of his ways of wandering around unsupervised, with a camera in one hand and a glass of Chrissie Bubbly in the other.

Thank you all for taking the time and effort to post comments. Bit confused here though. Everything I read about it or watch on mini training videos tells me that portraits are meant to be 'soft.'

Perhaps this is a matter of personal choice. Over the top processing which gives a harsh appearance is distracting but too soft tends to just look poorly focused. However, getting the balance just right is what makes a good portrait photographer.

I think with people's especially with women's faces, it is suppose to be soft so the wrinkles will be a bit ironed or something, but with animals, we have to see the nits and dandruffs in between the hairs, furs or whatever they are called... Originally Posted by ucci
