Very nice indeed, well done. The portrait retouching purists might suggest cloning the few stray hairs that are 'standing up on end' but I wouldn't. I think it is a perfect age appropriate portrait, just as it is.
Absolutely gorgeous! The image and your nephew!
Personally I adore the stray hairs
For a formal portrait, particularly with a well made up model, the stray hairs would be wrong. But to me, they make a casual 'real life' candid shot like this.
Lucas is so nice, I love the light on the hair Was this shot with a flash Mike ?
Thanks, everyone! All of the stray hairs stay.
No flash, Binnur.
The hair was back lit by the sun. It could have been back lit by a flash in a more controlled situation other than kids playing, as here, in the backyard.
Wonderful!
Very nice image Mike, makes me almost feel like I was there.
Very nice candid in my view Mike. And your subject is adorable
Good candid shot, Mike, and well framed.
Great portrait Mike (stray hairs and all )!
Continued thanks to everyone!
Yes, that is well done.
what a handsome little man! he's going to break more than a few of the girl's hearts. i love the look on his face and the backlighting.
Beautiful Lucas - and a wonderful portrait! I really love the lighting and his expression.
A beautiful shot of Lucas captured as he really is and not some ' PS-ed punced up' image of what it is felt he should look like in order to placate the 'cloning cop purists!' Sometimes I think that the cloning brush is one of the worst pieces of software written, in terms of its over application. As they say, 'If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!'
The stray hairs are an integral part of Lucas's personna. And just how 'candid' does the shot remain if one takes the cloning clippers to it and gives Lucas a short back and sides? LOL Of course others don't have to agree with me. That is their privilige; the right to be sometimes wrong!
Sheesh, I can feel the waves of indignation sweeping my way already! Should learn to take mrs ucci's advice and keep the old trap shut.
