Abstract - Looking up at the pool

This is another shot taken in the National Gallery of Canada, in Ottawa this past weekend.

When one is sitting in one area of the foyer, looking straight up we can see through a glass-bottomed pool on the floor above. The lights and the water create an interesting abstract look. All I had along was my 24mm PC-E lens, so I had limited options in composing this shot.






The second shot is a more conventional, with the same pool and lights, when viewed from above. Instead of shooting straight down, I decided to use the shape of the pool to complement the geometry on the building wall.

Thanks Frank. You have identified why I put the second shot in. It does give some context to the first shot.

Great decision! It works well on its own, not just for providing context of the first photo. This image works better for me as a monochrome because the various rectangular shapes become more emphasized.

#1 is nice as an abstract , but I especially like #2 because of the shapes and patterns Is it just a little bit tilted or my eyes ?

I did not go B&W because it just did not work for me. The colours are a compositional choice, not just the lines and shapes.

Correct - it looks like it is off by perhaps a degree or so. I don't ensure 100% of my explanatory posts are level...
