Roxie looks better now Isabel Reducing the highlights/brightness might also help, her hair looks a bit distracting.

I am working on Jpg because Photoshop cannot access raw files yet. ... I will do some more edits if I can. I was up on the wall with Photoshop for two days.

    Dear Barbara...

Sometime in our computing life, we want to tear our hair out if things doesn't come out right first time -- but we survived. I certainly did last night and will eventually get there...Thanks for commenting.

Thanks Mark and Tony..have downloaded some stuffs to help fix my software problem but I think I will do a work around instead...use my other camera for the time being while familiarizing myself with my new camera. I still have not the time to do anything apart from photograph from tests and found another topic for my second week of Project 52.

Tony -- I will rub her ears for you. She is such a touchy feely dog, once I start touching her in the yawning, she wants it all day. I think she still has to understand that Tucker needs more attention at this time. I love them both...

This as this is exactly what my wife does to me when she encounters a pc problem. It would seem to be an endearing and clever ploy characteristic of Ozzie Ladies. It is no meant feat to get a dedicated Mac man even the slightest bit involved in a windows pc problem!
By the way great shot of your offsider Roxie. She is lovely. Looks as if she gets lots of loving as well, as do our pair, especially in the way of 'treats' from Mum. Interesting to speculate on just why they are called Australian Cattle dogs when they are an American breed. Our cattle dogs Down Under are the blue heeler, kelpies and red heelers, as you would well know.

    Allen or "Lurchy" is fine

Izzie, you did well with your photo of your beautiful friend. My kelpie, bazza, won't stay still long enough when I have my camera, but weather I am walking around my property or setting up my studio for my selfies he is nice and staying put. So good job on that! Can't wait to see week two's photo!

Allen to start training a dog to keep still is to have keeble treats in your pocket. Then tell him/her to sit THERE! and WAIT! It'll take a few days to pound its little mind into accepting that you hold its life or death situation condition but when it does, you will not be sorry...

Ken...we thought Roxie was a kelpie -- most intelligent dog in the world, I reckon...but as she grow up we realized she is a mixed breed of Blue and Red Heeler instead. Kelpies are the most prized dog of Aussie farmers so I learned later on and I was so happy I got Roxie. She was so blue when we first came to our protection as an almost one year old . Then when my stepson said he is going to give Roxie to a pound, I decided to adopt her. So she is really mine through and through and trained her. She is very intelligent but treat the other dog like a sheep, always running after his heel...very naughty but how do you mix naughty with intelligence, I do not know but this one has both...

Lovely pup. I assume you used the built in flash? A bit harsh and also causes redeye.
A simple short term software solution is to download free ViewNX2 to use as NEF viewer/basic editor. Then save as tiff and go crazy with CS6.

Love your dog Izzie. I agree about toning down the highlights once you are software operational. :-) With my 810, my PS works with TiFF files...they will be monsters thou due to the size of the images on the 810.

I spent sleepless nights thinking of a go-around method and this morning I saw a post about using On One. I have On-One so I loaded it there and it recognized the file and saved it as a .PSD. I had edited it there from then on and lowered the highlights quite a bit then saved it as a jpg. I am bothered by the fact that when the file was translated to PSD I looked at the EXIF and some of them did not come up...I will upload to test if it will load with the EXIF here...

I don't think it work very well...it needs a bit more toning down...

Dan I have View NX but did not install it. I was thinking of doing so but I got to translate the file to On One...Thanks for helping and commenting.

I'll take a bad pic of a dog over a good pic of a person any day. Sweet doggie, hope to see more of him.

Lovely dog Izzie and she sounds like a good companion. I think, as others have said, that the use of flash is making the image look a bit harsh. You need to train her to sit in a well lit window so you can take a natural light portrait of her

Thanks Jack...most of the time, I echo your thoughts about animals and people mainly because my dog do not answer me back nor touch an iPhone. Thank you for taking the time to look.

Shane -- when Roxie sit in a well-lit backdoor, she wants to go out there. She and Huey originally came from North Dakota so they love the cold and running after the squirrels and chipmunks when the weather is cooler not hot summery. She whines for cuddles because Tucker gets more. I am trying to avoid flash at the moment so I can learn my camera better. The buttons are a bit different from my crop camera and I was lazy to go upstairs. And thank you for commenting. Now I have good idea on how I can use my studio again...Roxie likes going upstairs here in my den and just waiting for me so I will take advantage of that...my head is reeling with ideas...

She's a lovely dog - and what a great asset when you are facing a week having trouble finding a new subject....... I'm looking forward to seeing some more of her.
