Hi Kaye. My best is #2 among week 9's images. IMO a little crop from the bottom would give a better composition.

Thanks for the suggestion Binnur - is this better ?

I've made it into a 16*9 format - a ration I use quite often. I find I am a bit anal about photo ratios and like to use the 'traditional' formats, don't know why. Maybe because they are tried over many years by many experts who have found these to be best - I don't know, only guessing.

It looks better to me Kaye, I think your horizon also needs some levelling

    Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 10 - Away from the coast

I have had difficulty this week deciding what to post - the places we have been in the last three weeks are all very lovely and I am finding myself taking too many snaps and not enough quality. Perhaps it is the lack of preparation or maybe I am becoming too relaxed in my approach.

Anyway, here are a few from the Sierra Espuna region of Spain. We only found this as our campsite book had a lone entry in this area and we decided it must be there for a reason - the welcome in El Berro and the scenery did not disappoint.

Here is a selection and I hope they may make you want to visit.

1 - view across the valley in El Berro

2 - looking the other way - I particularly love the colour of the flowers

    2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett

3 - This is El Berro the mountain through the pine trees - I've had difficulty bringing out the clour of the mountain on this one

    2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett

4 - Another view of El Berro with the ever present almond blossom of thistime of year in Spain

    2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett

5 - A walk in the other direction gave us views of the Murcian plains. The reservoir really was that turquoise, mineral deposits we think

C&C welcome and any tips on how to lessen the 'snap' quota gratefully received

    Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 10 - Away from the coast

    Look fine to me.

The first one (El Berro) does have a slight problem around the bottom right corner area. Not sure if that is caused by something well out of focus or some smoke rising from the ground but it does slightly spoil an otherwise good scene.

Regarding general composition and trying to avoid 'snaps'. I tend to take a couple of overall tourist type shots to get something keepable in the camera then start looking around for any possible alternatives which might be available and suitable for getting a bit more 'artistic'.

It doesn't matter if these experimental shots fail because I still have the 'snaps' so I can 'play around' with a clear conscience.

Thanks for taking us for a tour from your trip...I am of the same opinion as Geoff in #1 image.
#2 could have been two shots in one as you like the flowers at the bottom for your foreground. Not a mention of the structure above which in Spain is prevalent in most residences. A good space at the top of the shot and a square crop can improve this one...
#5 is very interesting to say the least...I am liking landscape shots like this one...so I will chose #5 as my favourite...

Thanks all for your comments. Goodness, I hadn't spotted the flaw in #1 - it is smoke and so I don't think I can do much about it, I give it a go though. Izzie, wait a bit and you will see more of the flowers. I went out before dawn this morning to catch the sunrise on the wild flowers around here.

Geoff - thanks for the tip. That sounds a really simple and very effective idea.

    Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 11 - an active week

This week we have been very active, lots of bike rides, early morning dawns, walking. So I thought I would try and post a picture from each day

1 - Monday - Introducing Bertie Big Bum, my travel monkey. Given to me by my best mate with the request that I take him to the sea.....every so often I take a photo for her and send it home. This is on the Murcian Coast on a lunch stop away from some of the very hideous resorts which you can find if you're unlucky

2 - Tuesday - Sunset and the view from our Motorhome door in the Cabo de Gata National Park after a lovely day cycling (pictures of which are already posted)

    2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett

3 - Wednesday - The spring flowers are beautiful, this is one of my favourites from a dawn shoot. We spent the rest of the day on the beach, having peaked early.

4 - Thursday - Into Las Alpujarras, a long and winding road, great fun to drive

    2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett

5 - Friday - A perfect day's walking around the Parish (Taha) of Pitres. I took many photos but somehow this one sums the day up.

6 - and today - well we're shrouded in mist.......we abandoned our walk after a few of miles but we did find the perfect place for our picnic lunch

I'll add another from tomorrow to make it a set of seven

#1 is worth a closer look at full size - a great fun scene.

I saw the photos and now I lost it...I will come back to this later, Kaye...'too pid internet played on me so I shut off my connection just in case, but not after I copy the links to the new posts...

Anyway, I came back just now to see all these images with their stories...good reportage shots as you take us with you on your tour. Glad you are on your bike...you will not miss a single thing as you go along. I love your Bertie Big Bum. She is cute. #3 is a favourite too...the whole landscape thingie is made attractive by the flower shot...(I think I might do this kind of shot soon...)

Thanks Geoff and Izzie. Whilst I have the camera with me fairly constantly, putting together a selection for the week is proving a challenge all on its own. And I realise I never did post day 7.....and as luck will have it the wifi I am on does not like Tinypics, so it will have to wait another couple of days

Interesting scene. The shadows on the right and the angle of shooting give plenty of perspective depth.

Good one! But what are those little cups underneath the ham? Just asking...

Possibly to catch any juices dripping from the ham tips? Better than draining onto the floor because the cups can easily be emptied.
