    Overall, I like the composition, DOF, exposure is a bit harsh on the whites though.

    Egrets are so tricky, Barbara, particularly in any sunshine so you have done well to get some feather detail. Background is a fraction noisy. Nothing serious but I think, with care, it can be cleaned up a bit more.

    I tend to use a light Blur Brush or draw a selection around the problem areas a do some selective noise reduction with suitable software.

    Egrets are what the EV control is for. Matrix metering judges the entire scene and assigns some average exposure. When you know that you are shooting a white bird set the EV (Egret Value) to -2 The background will get darker but that will make the well exposed bird stand out even better.
