    Millennium Bridge at night, B&W

Here's a small set of three images taken at the Millennium Bridge in London at night:

I really adore your shots in B/W...it has too high a standard to be able to replicate your style...unfortunately for me. And your choice of shots, they are beyond what some like me can do...I feel humbled.

Nicely done. I like the first one best for composition. Just because, no specific reason. Just gut response to the image. Since I can't explain why in the context of critique I guess I feel compelled to explain my own impulse. OK but I'm going to stop now...

Thanks Izzie. These are really quite easy to take and shoot, and I sort of go into autopilot when taking them. Anyone can do it with patience and a mental check sheet. It ceases to be a challenge after a while, but I will reshoot later at night in the future to get no people on he bridge. These were shot between 10:45pm and 11:30pm and there were lots of people about.

Because of the dynamic range there are 3 images taken at 30, 8 and 2 seconds (at f8 in these cases with a 50mm). A 2 second delay with the timer (I didn't have my remote release with me) and you're done.

I didn't notice when shooting but the bridge hasn't been built to have complete symmetry with St Pauls dime in the background. I was. I was very careful to line up exactly in the centre of the bridge but the dome ends up being slightly off centre so cropped during processing to place it back in the centre of the images.

Cracking set Phil the first gets my vote as it includes the up ramp which adds to the composition, well done.

Thanks John, Dan, Graham and Peter. I started off with my default 35mm but switched to 50mm as St Paul's was a little too far away and lost in the 35mm images. 50 seemed about right...

The first one reminds me of the shot from roughly the same PoV taken during the daytime.

Somehow, there seem to be a lot fewer people out at night. The first one works the best for me because of the number of layers in the image.
