    Swimming hole near home.

These small falls and waterhole are a great place for a swim on a hot day which is what we're having at our end of the world at the moment.

    Swimming hole near home.

Graham, what a lovely local! and beautifully shot. I was a little bit distracted by the brown leaf/branch that is a little below center of he photo.

I want to see more of the swimming hole and to me, that's what makes this image work. Weird thing is, on first seeing your image I was immediately hit with the strongest odor of wet moss...hoping it's not a TIA

Thanks Barbara. Unfortunately without a piece of stick or something about 4 metres long I couldn't reach it. Perhaps someone with better skills than me could clone it out?

Nice subject, Graham, but it feels like you have cut half of the scene off. I think that is because the main lines in the photo - the rocks on the left, the trees in the bg and the waterfall - are all vertical.

    It still looks inviting, though.

    Thanks for the feedback Greg.
The sky was too bright to lift the composition any higher than I have (I don't have a graduated ND filter so it would have been totally washed out) so it's the bottom that's been cropped away. There was a great pile of messy sticks and branches just in front of me plus one rock that was unshaded and in bright light so they were in the shot and were the reason for the crop.

Summer - I can only wish...

Nice shot Graham, but I wonder if you might not have a bit too much of that large moss covered rock. It just dominates the image and the balance is all tilted to the left. If it were my image, I would be tempted to (severely?) crop that rock back to see it that gets the balance working better.

I suspect that the waterfall is the subject, and it just gets overwhelmed right now.

It will be Spring soon in Canada, yes?

Graham...I am with Manfred's comment here and Greg too -- looks like a cut off shot but hey! it a pretty inviting place to wade around and keep cool from the heat. Can't wait to go back home for a visit...

Thanks for the comments Manfred. Although I like the panorama aspect I can see your point. I'll go back to it and save another version cropped per your suggestion.

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions.
Just to make the northern hemisphereians (is that a word?) envious I was perspiring just standing still taking the shot. On the down side however I wasn't dressed for swimming so had to go away hot.....sigh!

You're not wrong Mark, no crocs here but there are snakes. Fortunately didn't see any.
