    I am not sure what they eat but when they were disturbed by me they moved like a school of fish without attacking.

    Hard to see at this magnification, but they look a lot more like beetles than ants to me.

    Covered wings make me wonder about some form of beetle? Or failing that a species of bug?

    Definitely something we don't get in the UK.

    I go with species of bug. We do have larger beetles of that colour but without those incredibly long antenna.

    They were in a very awkward place to get close to. The type of place where snakes and other biters hide so the only option was telephoto. But I may have been smarter to type 'beetle like'.
