    Grain Silo in B&W

I was looking for a tree standing alone in an expansive field I had remembered from the day before. I never found the tree. Instead, I found this silo.

Nicely exposed, vastly overshadowed by the foreground trees.

Is this a case of lost in photography rather than thought?

I like your substitute photograph. Obviously you want to emphasis the silo but I think the top half of the tree is a little to dark.

The two complementary subjects, the irregularly shaped trees against the straight lines of the silo, shed and fence work very well together. The relative lightness of the shed and darkness of the trees go together well too. It looks very well balanced to me.

A successful artistic effort, I would say.

That's really an interesting shot, Mike. To see this opportunity you must have been thinking in B/W. A good lesson for us all.

Yes. I have about 5 keepers of the silo and I was thinking in monochrome throughout the entire shoot. My wife was not at all happy with that decision when it comes to the image that includes a red barn.
