Very good Melania, I like the composition and light very much. The people and dogs going in opposite directions add interest and the wide format is ideal for this shot IMO.

I've looked at your very nicely taken image and something was bothering me about it and I finally figured it out.

My eyes are so drawn to the right side of the image, I actually don't notice what is going on at the left.

Our eyes are drawn to the bright or contrastly parts of the shot; which in this case are the specular reflections on the water on the right side, both at the bottom and near the top. That means I definitely see the two people heading to the right edge of the image up to around where the dog nearest to them is.

I really don't notice the man walking alone, the dog on the left and the island in the background, unless I forces myself to look to the left. The image seems to have all the bright light and contrast on the right hand side and darker parts and lower contrast on the left side.

I would agree with Manfred over the rules about tonal values but in this case all I see is a dog walking left and the island behind... I have to force myself to see the right area of the picture .... perhaps it is how I am sitting relative to my monitor which is wider than my comfortable viewing acceptance angle
Dog-Island are centre screen when the image is offset to the right by CiC layout.

Edit ....My solution if it was my shot would be a horizontal flip and possibly a crop from the left but that would change the title from people to man and dog. It looks good after the flip better when cropped

Edit #2 I would add this principle "When I am a documentarian then it must be as the camera sees it but when I am an artist I am creating and showing a reality which is mine and perhaps not what the world sees" Despite the title I believe the intention here is art rather than doco.

Love the lighting and patterns in the foreground.
As for where the eye goes as Manfred and John discuss:
Would it be that the subject matter (people and dogs) are distributed over a extended part of the picture- going in different
directions, confusing for the eye.
Having them confined to the right of the picture or in a tighter group or less people and dogs.
I think the timing is critical in this picture.
