Very clean and attractive image; a wall hanger indeed

Handsome portrait. I like the handling of the sky very much - I think it establishes a certain formality to the scene and adds to the handsomeness of the subject.

Nice sharp capture of the machine, Andre, but the overcast sky spoils the image for me.

I like the image, in a strange way the white empty sky focuses the eyes to the tractor.

    Thank you Mark.

Correction. No handling of the sky. That is the way it came from the camera.

A bright overcast day with a colourless grey sky. The dynamic range in the image is huge.

I chose to expose for the black subject and blow out the sky completely, using spot metering.

In this shot of a hut in a traditional Ndebele kraal you can almost see what the sky looked like. This was shot, at the same site, 30 min after I shot the tractor.

I love shooting in light like that. The Ndebele hut was shot at 12h05 on December 27. The sun was almost directly overhead. If there was no cloud covering the images would have been harsh, completely flat, with unflattering shadows.

Very nice looking tractor. You captured it well, very sharp.
