You're too kind. Just playing around with CS4. I was standing on a broad, sunlit path at the time.

This is the view out of my bedroom window...

I love this tree. I really want to do a time-lapse of it, taking one pic a day over the whole year as it changes colour beautifully from lime-green through to a warm yellowy colour towards the autumn.

Anyways, please let me know what you think of my PP work. I shot it in RAW and tried to do a bit of a pseudo-HDR on it by combining 3 different levels of exposure...

Here's a photo I took earlier today of a cluster of birch trees located near a nature trail at my local community college. Did some tinkering in ACR and Photoshop.

Sorry for the triple post. I had problems embedding the image, and wasn't able to access the "edit post" button. So I just posted again correctly.

    Bear Clawed Tree

    http://www.somajones.com/soma_photos...claw_tree.html

A coworker who bear hunts told me about this beech tree 25 miles out of town with bear claw scars running up it. He gave me the Longitude and Latitude and I drove out to find it. I'm amazed that with a GPS I can go locate a specific tree 25 miles from my house deep in the middle of nowhere. There was a lull in the rain when I arrived and took pictures. I didn't notice until I arrived home there were a few spot of drizzle on the lens. They don't necessarily detract from the image but I'll probably go back out there again and try to get a better shot.

    Hi Soma,

About 20 years ago I did an 8 day pack-horse horse ride from Lake Louise to Banff in Canada. Absolutely great trip. Early in the ride we were in a pine plantation. The horse I rode was around 15 hands tall and with me sitting on his back my face was a reasonable distance off the ground.

There were grizzly bear’s claw marks, marking his territory, on the tree at eye height. There were no marks below this like he was climbing or anything – scary stuff.

    Re: Beech Trees

This image of a tree in the Hoh Rain Forest of Washington State's Olympic Peninsula was shot in 2003 with an old Olympus P&S camera. I would love to return to that area with my present Canon gear. The entire Hoh Rain Forest has a surrealistic look to it and I would like to capture it with better gear.

    On the Rogue River

TREE THREAD - Post your tree shots here

This forest pic has some texturing on it -- taken on the Rogue River in Oregon.

Mike, your haunted forest is lovely, as are the mysterious beech trees --
