This forest pic has some texturing on it -- taken on the Rogue River in Oregon.

Mike, your haunted forest is lovely, as are the mysterious beech trees --
    Hi Elise,

I like the subtle variations in colour in this shot. It reminds me of one of the old English painters.

Good shot Mike. Did you use a double exposure and blending on this shot?

Re: TREE THREAD - Study of a Grass Tree

These trees grow all across Australia. They grow at around 1 - 1.25 meters every 100 years. These three shots show the tree (in this case in The Little Desert) , its fronds and its flower.

Sorry I have not been back to this thread for a while. This looks great Vidyadharan and you have done a great job on clonning the wires.

Wow, that first one is a wicked looking tree. I would spin that around and convert to black and white and see if you can produce an alien effect.

Peter, thanks for the comment on my photo. I like your tree pics, particularly the middle one for some reason -- it's a nice abstract, beautiful lines.

Thanks for the comment Peter. I just had to pull over and jump out for a few shots when I saw the light coming threw those trees like that. Those are some cool looking tree images you posted. I like the odd shape of the tree in the 1st image and the 2nd image looks like a floral explosion, very cool composition.

Very cool Mick. I love how the tree and the surrounding area are covered in moss.

Good shot, Mick. This place is quite near where I live (about 40mins away). I go up there a lot - a very nice part of the world. The pub down the road at the bridge is quite good!

    The Birthing Stones

TREE THREAD - Post your tree shots here

This is the second most sacred place on Oahu, just a skateboard ride from my house, turned in to a crazy tourist attraction. On any given day you can see tons of Japanese tourists laying down lays as offerings even though this isn't a heiau, or temple.

The alii, or royalty, would come here to give birth to the future rulers of the land. I've read that if the mother made any sounds during child birth, they would kill her. Crazy!

That is one beautiful image Shane! You must have a ton of photo ops there on Wahiawa. The sunsets alone could fill albums.

AFTER A FLOOD - I trek this part of a river system in Mt. Banahaw after a a 24-hour flash flood (passing just about 10 feet away from my campsite) and got curios with this tree growing in a rock. Taken Nov. 2, 2010, ~10am.

This is taken in County Antrim, Northern Ireland - close to the village of Armoy. It is an area known locally as the Dark Hedges and it's quite spooky.

The day that I took it, it was blowing a gale and chucking it down with rain - so it was slightly rushed. I hope to go back again when the weather is slightly more clement.
