A very gothic looking bird. Nice capture.

Anyone who can ID this bird? It looks like a heron to me...Nice sharp shot but I did not see the EXIF. What was that near his feet? Dust bunny or just mud?

Definitely a heron of some sort Izzie.

Hi Larry, it would be useful to know which country (or continent) you are 'parking in for a week or so'.

Most of it looks like a UK Grey Heron, except for the brown patches peeping over the top of the wing.

The US Great Blue Heron has brown patches like that.

Excellent photo; the only very slight change which I would make is to clone out those tiny specks near its feet. Probably little beads of water or debris dropping.

I always like to see the water droplets but that's just me. It is a Great Blue Heron and was shot at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge in NW Florida. Google Coordinates 0.106287, -84.154962
