So how long is your piece of string ?
Thats easy - twice as long as from one end to the middle
as for the rest, its quantum, ergo observation changes the result so by observing you are not seeing the actuality of it but the result of the observation. All other possible wave forms of reality have collapsed at that same moment - or something like that anyway

It is said that academic papers in string theory are published at a rate greater than the speed of light. This, however, is not problematic since no information is being transmitted.
A physics professor, who was teaching a graduate course on superstring theory, decided to add an essay question to this year's final exam. The instructions read, "Describe the universe in 400 words or less and give three examples."
There's more where this came from, but I have to fetch it from another universe...
