Art Deco Walker Tower
Built in 1929 as a Telephone Building in Chelsea, Manhattan, the structure has maintained (and recently refurbished) its Art Deco design and decor. While still owned by Verizon, the upper floors were sold as apartments that begin around of $10 million US. Verizon still operates out of the building, and the spooky look perfectly suits a building in which Verizon, the We-Say-So phone company still operates.

I love the way you shot this but could do a bit of sat on the sky? What do you think?

Thanks Izzie, sky was weird that day, I'll have to see what I can do to pull out some more detail in the sky.

Re: Art Deco Walker Tower
Good subject, Jack. The angle that you shot makes it seem quite imposing.
I downloaded this for my own interest to see if I could do something with the sky. In my attempt, I noticed that are 3 different tones in the subject - a darker area in the lower right, a lighter one above that, and then a darker one above that again. And then there is the brighter sky. Increasing the contrast via a curves adjustment emphasises those gradations.

Re: Art Deco Walker Tower
It has picked a bit of noise because it is only a small jpg. You could push it further if you wished and make it seem gothic-like.

Re: Art Deco Walker Tower
Yup, that does add more atmosphere to the image, thanks Greg.
I'll have to get a shot from the other side of the block, it is more gothy looking (which I guess is Art Deco writ large.)

It looks better for having tamed the sky, Jack.

I like this one better now, Jack and my eyes just love looking up now that the top is a bit mood-ier.
