Great shot. I like the foreground treatment you used for this - it makes the water wonderful. Have fun finding your next destination, Beth. If you like the rocky mountains, some high drama, off the beaten path, less populated options include the Wind River Mountains in WY and the Ruby Range (not rockies strictly - actually basin and range province) near Elko NV.
Yup, definitely a good shot. Really like that we can see through the water where the sunlight hits.
A couple of thoughts: it appears to need a slight rotation clockwise and; maybe a bit more contrast, or detail in the background, the BG just seems like it wants to pop a bit.
A very nice shot, Beth. I like how you used the dock to lead the viewwer's eyes into the image. Very effective.
I'm thinking along the same lines as Jack, regarding the impact the haze has on the mountains in the background. I wonder if a different PP treatment to cut the haze a bit might not result in a more compelling image.
Beth what a beautiful place. Makes me want to go! For me if you added just a bit more detail/depth to the right side mountain closest to you, it would balance it nicely. The furthest mountains I think then would look great. I am really new at critique and almost hesitate to do so seeing as I have far less experience than most here. I hope I did not offend. It is a lovely shot.
Very very beautiful...great point of view
I think that is a cool image. Neat with the rocks visible on the bottom of the lake, the low perspective and the mountains.
Looks lovely and is a place I've not yet been. But the Tetons are hard to beat. One of my favorite places.
Beautiful! I like how the pier leads the eye in toward the mountains and the beautiful clear water in the foreground. Great shotl
thanks.
i probably won't make it to elko, but i have a buddy who used to live there and tells me quite often how stunning it is. i haven't yet been to the wind river mountains, but i've heard of them, i'll add that to the list of places to research.
thanks. i'm pretty sure it's straight, the lake shore that you think is a level horizon is actually on a slant to the camera position. and the mountains on the right are closer than the ones of the left. the haze in the background is actually a some light snow and is very close to how the scene actually looked.
i'm really not looking to get rid the the snow, it was there. and i was in it not long after taking this shot. you can actually see the line of snow against the mountain on the right as it started to make it's way up the range.
thanks, the lack of detail/depth was how it was while i was there due to the snow. the line where it goes from green to haze is where the snow began.
thank you, i went with color because i did a very similar shot a few years prior in monochrome.
thanks.
thanks, it's amazing how crystal clear the water is. the mountains are like nothing i've ever seen.
oh, the tetons are very hard to beat. this is a close second. though if i lived in alaska like you then i might not be so eager to leave home for vacation.
thank you joe.
Like it Beth.
I wonder if this would have been a candidate for using a polariser to remove some of the glare from the foreground water and emphasise the pebbles?
What a beautiful place, Beth, much more made beautiful by your photograph. I remember having not quite the same shot but it has a dolphin that just jumped out of the water on the side the dock...
