Helpful Posts: ...it was pretty nice, except for the smog out over the ocean. When we get Santa Ana winds, it pushes all the smog out to sea, well, almost all of it.
Here's a shot that shows the westerly swell coming in, the off shore drilling platform and quite a few container ships waiting to enter Long Beach Harbor.
This was taken with my NEX 7 w/24mm Nikkor f2.8, at f5.6 @1/1250 sec ISO 100.

Alan, This brings back memories. I used to live on the beach in Orange County. This photo is best viewed in lightbox. You might consider moving the horizon up, out of the middle of the photo. Perhaps you can experiment with it. What kind of birds are in the water? Thanks for sharing.

If by lightbox you mean by clicking on it 'twice' to see it bigger, yes, it is better to view it that way.
I don't see any birds in the water Chuck, but there are about 10 surfers waiting on the next set to come in.
I just thought I'd share our 75* day with all the folks who've got snow up to their eye balls.

Oh Alan...thanks for sharing this beautiful part of your area there...!! It is most beautiful especially when I almost freezed my butt off doing some re-takes of my shot by airplane port...t'was windy there. 'Used to live in San Diego three months at a time during my holidays and it is such a beautiful place to linger about, pretty much like this scenery from our bedroom window and of course the drone of the airplanes overhead most of the time.

You and me both, Alan...I love flag shots. I have a couple taken at the airport in Chicago a few days ago...this one here is nicely placed too, just the right warmth for us than here. <jealous...> but I am going home soon, Greg and I can't wait to feel that sun on my back...
