RESULTS - April 2010 Competition

Hi Folks,

We have our winners. Thanks to everyone who voted (***cough*** eventually!) (in case you were wondering, I kept the voting open a bit longer because the existing number of votes made the result somewhat inconclusive, that changed with every other vote).

In first place - on 39 points I'm please to announce that the fruits of Yan's labour paid off!



In 2nd place - on 27 points we have "yours truly" with ...



In third we have Donald - on 21.5 points - with ...



and in 4th place - on 10.5 points - we have Raycer, with ...



Congratulations to our winners - thanks to everyone who entered and voted - and be advised that for those who didn't vote, I'll shortly be erasing your hard drives - painting moustaches on all your images - and giving your phone number to your ex wives & girlfriends

Thank you to those who thought my effort worthy of your vote ... and well done to the others above. More and more we (I) seem to keep thinking that the overall quality of work has increased hugely in the time that I've been a member on this site. That in itself is a great motivator for improvement. I'm sure we all learn so much from looking at each other's images.

And Colin, I'm curious about your 'masts'. How did you 'light' them all up or was this the available light reflections off aluminium from the long exposure.

Hi Ron, I lit each one individually with a gelled speedlite - 93 in total.

One thing I can say is that you's Kiwi's are super smart but you can't count ... I made it only 81 masts
Must get one of those speedlite thingees ...

Nah - seriously, the boats are in a marina which has a lot of sodium lighting. This shot of the same marina might give you a better perspective.

I missed to vote this month, felt pity. In fact, I was wondering when the vote started. There was no announcement like previous months, I checked couple of times from 1 May, but could not find such a message posted. Sorry. I will be more careful next time.

No announcement ... surely you jest

I posted a new thread in EVERY forum - created a system-wide announcement (Sean even kindly changed it's colour to orange to make it more visible) -AND kept the voting open another day. I think I'll have to change the rules to say that entrants who don't vote get their entry excluded from the results (Mauhahahahaha)
