This is a three-shot pano of the very north end of the Rideau Canal Skateway, taken just after sunrise.
There are a number of well known Ottawa buildings in this shot, centred around the frozen canal. Going clockwise.
National Arts Centre - the main concert venue in Ottawa is the brown building on the left.
Houses of Parliament - the green roofed buildings. Most of the view is East Block, but the Peace Tower (clock tower) is part of Centre Block.
Chateau Laurier Hotel - the castle like structure with turrets, just to the right of the canal
Government Conference Centre - just in front of the Chateau Laurier. This used to be the Ottawa train station, before it moved to a new location in the mid-1960s.
The shack on the ice with the red patch on the wall is a heated shelter for people to put their skates on. With Winterlude (the annual winter festival) starting on Friday, I hope to have some more interesting material to work with over the next few weeks.
