it has been suggested that the background needed work and it does. With my limited skill set this is about as good as I can get it. The problem is that I also changed the dragons colours. I slightly prefer the following version as does Myra who usually prefers the lighter takes.

incase anyone is curious here is how the shot came out of the camera.

Lovely piece of craftmanship but my only reaction apart from being fascinated by it are the background shadows have not been organised to compliment the dark and light areas of the figure ... perhaps too critical but an idea for you to work on. Probably more than can be done with limited lighting, I could well be wrong... you have it across dragon's head but not lower down.

A dragon with fishhead body and mouth or is it a snail ... could spend hours looking at it but must go to bed
The Pern dragons were never like that for sure.

You are right about the background. The original shot was of an orange large dragon and a golden small dragon with a deepish blue background. Accidently I pushed remove red eye and all of a sudden I was playing with all sorts of colours.

Sadly there was no red eye in the background.

Pern dragons are modelled after the western concept of dragons. These two are Chinese dragons. Two arms, no legs or wings. They fly the same way fish swim.

Nice contrasting colors, lighting, needs more of the dark background shadows and less light on the fabric.

It is rare it is suggested to me that I need more shadows. I agree that the background needs work but with my present skills it was sacrificed for the dragons.

You are starting to get there now, Brian. Particularly with the second image. Good but not over exposed highlights merging into deep but not clipped shadows.

This sounds conceited but I agree. I am getting there.
