Thanks, Jim. I want to try one high/one low, as well. Left and right don't look intuitively natural.

BTW, I had the heads turned so the long axis was vertical, unlike what shows in my shot of the setup. This let me pull the colors closer together and spread the illumination front-to-back better.

Excellent, Rick, very good. #3 looks like the Loch Ness monster - the long neck with two bulging eyes, rising from the water.

You should photograph the monster, Rob. With some of the cool stuff you do in PP, I'll bet you could stretch out a fish tail or something to make it look like a monster.

Here's a couple more images for those thinking of going the rinse aid route. It seems to make the coronet finer at the edges. Maybe worth shooting with 1/32 flash (these were 1/16), to freeze the coronet better.

I agree, these are all excellent Rick.

I like the dreamy floaty-ness of not seeing the dish and the latter ones better still for the lack of vignetting.

First Contact is my favourite as it takes some looking at to see if it is just airborne or a landing that's been captured.

That's actually a PP change: I pulled up the fill light in ACR, which filled in those somewhat dark corners. I'll definitely reprocess the rest that way.

Edit: it's partly raising the fill light, partly a tighter crop on the initial reaction. I went back and tried to fix one of the others, and there's still some visible vignetting. I'll have to watch for that next time when setting up the flashes. That would probably also be good for avoiding those blown highlights that appear in some of the spheres.
