Nice scene...I love the purple skies...
Quite an unusual grouping of elk!
I consider the R.M.N.P. one of the most scenic areas that I have ever visited, right up there with Yosemite Valley in California and the Li River of China...
Very beautiful!
A beautiful picture for sure. Did you do anything special here? For some reason it looks like a painting.
Nice shot, Kathy, made into an excellent picture with the processing.
Nicely done.
Terrific photo , nice processing of the sky , definitely has the look of an oil painting .
Interesting one Kathy, I see an almost 3D appearance for some reason.
Gorgeous scene, well spotted and composed. However, notice that the treetops are dark. It seems that when you post-processed the sky you accidentally included the treetops.
Welcome back Kathy - long time, no see.
Nice shot,
I wondered whether you thought it might stand a small rotation clockwise?
I can see the right most post is parallel to the edge of frame, but the majority/average of them are leaning a little to the left and I think, but couldn't prove, the same is true of most trees. I dunno, just a feeling I get looking at it as there's nothing definitive to judge it by and even the posts may not be reliably vertical if the area is prone to a 'prevailing wind' effect.
Good to see you here again, Dave
Beautiful scenery. I like the lighting on the elk.
Irene
I'm not sure what your intentions where here in the post processing. As a photograph, it looks painted. As a painting, it looks photographed. lol.
What ever your intentions where, I think you've created a most eloquent piece of art. It really draws me in and it makes me want to be there. Really beautiful.
...Except for the high fence, I hate high fences!
Texas Dave,
I loved the photo when I took it, but the mountain seemed to get lost in the background so I wanted to make the mountain come alive along with the sky, so it all kind of started from there and escalated. I guess I do kind of like to have some of my photos take on that "painted look" but it has to be the right kind of photo and I do agree I think this photo has a little bit of both a "photo look" and a "painted look". I am going to post another photo later that also has this painted look to it. Thank you for your nice comments.
Kathy
Thank you to everyone who commented on this photo and gave CC. I used a highlighter brush in Lightroom 5 to highlight the trunks on the trees which I think really contributed to giving it the Oil painted look.
Kathy
To me there's a CGI quality to the image, it strongly reminds me of that scene in Jurassic Park where they first see the dinosaurs.
And to me, this is a good thing. I like the image. It has a strong, visceral impact.
