Alone in the Desert
I came across this photo whilst looking through my archives. I would be the first to say that there are numerous imperfections, especially the focus. However it was taken at dawn, so the light was not ideal. (That's my excuse anyway.)
It was taken in the Sahara Desert, in Morocco in 1971. A party of us went on a minibus trip over Christmas. This photo was taken on or close to Christmas morning. In those days, of course, we used 35mm film, so there is still some residual dust.
The reason for posting is that I find it very atmospheric. What do people think? C&C welcome, bearing in mid that I am unlikely to be able to repeat the shot!

Re: Alone in the Desert
I can see your reason for taking the shot, the solitary figure with rim lighting makes it look like an alien landscape. Have you tried converting to black and white?

Nice rim effect and I agree it would look good in blk/wht .

Re: Alone in the Desert
I have now applied Nik Silver Efex Pro to the photo, using the High Structure (Smooth) preset.

Re: Alone in the Desert
Very interesting conversation, John...I agree with Nandakumar that it looks special...and I like the conversion very much. Maybe because I am not into mono green image at all...but what do I know? I like the edit.

Re: Alone in the Desert
I agree with Kaye and the others. Nice combination of soft light and soft focus.
