my answer to the question would also be a 'No' - but I do thankyou for the laughter I have had from the replies!
I too would be a willing host if someone were travelling to my part of the world - I could even give you a map to the secret Koala location & off you go!
Been kind of busy of late with a damaged leg so not been so CinC active (I can hear the cheers ) ... but this will change, promise!
But this has got to be the wackiest Thread around.
My first 'outing' with lady and friends, taking a walk along a beaut river bank etc, resulted in me yelling things like "Can you slow down", "Move out of the way ...", "Bug--- it, now I have missed that shot". But they were not photographers ... maybe its nicer with 'real people'
Oh and Colin, what's wrong with running out of fuel half way from NZ to Aussie? You'd get some great action shots
heh I can certainly understand the frustraition of trying to shoot when accompanied by none-photographer sorts. They never ever walk slow enough and you can forget macro photography - by the time you find the flower in the viewfinder they will already be tapping their feet waiting - finding a bug is almost impossible!
That and they are always saying "ooh take a pic of that/this" where you are expected to not only take a shot, but present it to them (on the LCD) and then about 2 seconds later they forget all about it. Of course if you miss the shot its your fault and they give you those cold stares of failure!
As for going out with photographers I've been on a few trips with forum groups and they went rather well. Both times it was trips to a small wildlife centre so there was space and time to move around and do your thing, but also having a collection of other photographers (and not many regular visiters on the day) meant you could stop for a chat or just keep going. The latter trip I went on even had a mini competition at the end where each person picked one unprocessed shot from the day to be shown to the keepers to pick winners - a nice ending and its amazing the different things people come back with from such a trip even when confined to a smallish space.
City walks and country walks have also proved popular in the past as well - certainly I think whilst many of us tend tobe more loaners than not it is sometimes nice to get out with a bunch of likeminded people for a shoot (rather than at clubs where it tends to be more wordy with less shooting).
