Furls
While browsing my library looking for candidates for processing, or reprocessing, as the case may be, I stumbled on this. Something about the composition strikes me as a little off, but I don't see how to make it right. What do you think?

Re: Furls
And I was just making one of these in paper craft last night trying to occupy my time...but the actual one is more nicer. I like the transistion to B/W, but what is the real colour of this? Pink or Yellow. Nicely done...a bit soft when expanded. I wonder why...the lighting and shadows is a nice touch...not blaring at all...

Re: Furls
Janis I think it is lovely. Did you try it with a darker vignette? I wonder what that would do? Or perhaps less of the the exposure vignette? The texture is so pretty.

Re: Furls
Thanks, Izzie and Barbara.
Izzie, your papercraft sounds like a great subject for your camera! The original colour of this flower is yellow and the softness at least partly explained by the fact that I shot it with my 105 mm macro handheld (ISO 200, f/8 at 1/160). The softness of the lighting is due to the fact that it was shot in our zoo's butterfly garden, which is just one big diffusion tent. They are building a permanent facility, but I will miss the tents for their lovely soft and even light.
Barbara, I think I will give your suggestions a try.

Nicely done, I'm a bit under the weather from a cold so it has a dizzying effect on my brain.

Re: Furls
It looks good to me, Janis. I like the processing and I think the white vignette works well with this subject. Maybe the slight assymetry of it is niggling you?

Re: Furls
Nicely done Janis, The contrast works for me and I am not a fan of a white vignette.

Re: Furls
how about flipping it vertically and cropping it so the flowers center is nearer the top?

Re: Furls
Thanks for your comment, Mark.
John, sorry to have dizzied your brain; hope you've recovered from your cold.
Greg, you might be right about the asymmetry. My eye keeps hitting the black spot in the middle, where there should be petals. I see Brian has put the petals in the middle; thanks Brian. I do prefer the wider view; maybe I should have shifted myself left a little to better frame the centre bits.
