Agreed, and so does the foreground. It doesn't look quite right to be snow either.

colors seem a bit wonky. If the lit part is blue, one would expect the shadows to be even more so. Really interesting texture to the dunes. And the sky is pretty cool for made up.

My guess is that it's actually dessert (whipped cream, whipped egg whites or the like), not desert. Note that I'm not confident enough to offer a bet.

It looks like meringue to me. I agree with Grahame that the stars could be more realistic in terms of varied brightness and showing constellation patterns. Maybe a fake time lapse would work here. I would like to see something on the moon (!?) that offers scale like a space ship or an Apollo.

William, as I said before... my imagination goes into overdrive with this kind of image.... for me... Dune.... a faraway world of Spice.... and sandworms about to surface ...

Do the stars on a half dozen or so different layers and change the opacity on each layer and the stars will look more real.
