Nice day for a walk , not sure yet but something in the composition just seems off. Maybe it is my morning brain so will come back. Thanks for the nice view.
I think the composition is there, just the wrong time of day or to underexposed.
The composition really makes me want to see more...but I can't.
In this kind of shot, please forgive me for saying so -- I'd like to see more of the skies and what makes that light shines through the water and the whole landscape and a little less of the foreground. I was thinking the other way around when I saw this that some people might prefer to see less of the skies but in this case, with some beautiful textured clouds, ain't no way no how can you have left that too short and too cramp. I guess you can't pleased everyone's take yet that is how I would prefer it. Just a thought....
There is refreshing mood there.....
Regards
The problem for me is too much dark shadow in the bottom right corner. I would either brighten it or crop tighter to reduce the area.
A crop would lose something from the left bottom corner but I suspect it could still work OK.
Great shot of the early morning light, Graham - or is it late afternoon. Doesn't matter; the colours ring true for me.
Though the brightest area of the sun and the person pull me in different directions, I'm not bothered by that. I'm not sure why and I'm surprised that I'm not bothered by it.
Consider getting a bit more detail displayed in the dark vegetation and seaweed.
Thanks to all for C&C.
This is a sunset shot but it wasn't going to be a particularly good sunset so I just grabbed the shot when I could but of course the sun was still pretty bright even when behind the clouds.
For everyone who wanted to see more I think you're right so I've now posted the original uncropped version and have done some slightly different edits to bring the lower foreground brightness up without it becoming too grainy.
Feel free to tell me what you think
This also nice and I especially like the increased detail in the vegetation.
However, with the brightest sunlight, which is brighter in this one, positioned at the edge of the frame, it definitely pulls my eye to the left. In this situation, I select the brightest area and then fill the selection with the color immediately adjacent to it. I then lower the opacity until the scene seems realistic yet with darker tones that are less distracting. When you make the selection, remember to select the same tonalities that are reflected in the water.
I would have cropped somewhere between the first and last with the horizon around one-third of the way down.

I like the second image even better.
With the second image I would definitely crop the bottom slightly. Somewhere around half way from the bottom to the wave and a similar amount from the right side.
And very slightly selectively tone down the highlights on just the sun.
Overall, a decent photo now with that extra sky.
Love the second one. So much better Graham!!! Now you left me wondering why you cropped the first one too close to the top...
