I like the image. I don't know about the frame though but that is only my opinion.

Actually it is the majority opinion in CiC. I just like frames. I figure that if they are good enough for Rembrandt's work they are good enough for mine.

Earring with a soft shadow. Okay, but you know people are still arguing over my last earring shot? I must admit that this is not exactly a 'soft' shadow shot but it is the same earring. And it doesn't cast any shadows

The logic I apply is that if I ever make an image as good as anything Rembrandt made I will also feel comfortable framing it. That explains why I have used a formal frame on only one of my images and even that one wouldn't stand up to the scrutiny applied to a Rembrandt.

Mike you have a valid point and i did come off sounding more than a bit conceited. Serious question time; with my ice cave shot how do I contain the shot without a formal frame? Here is the shot without the frame and to me it lacks focus? finish?...

I enjoyed your comment about Rembrandt in the spirit of jest I think you intended; I certainly inferred no hint of conceit.

One reason I don't add frames for display here at CiC is that any images deserving more than the very quickest viewing can and should in my mind be viewed in the Lytebox. The presentation there provides "containment" (for lack of a better word) that works well for me. Moreover, when the uploaded image includes a frame, the containment in the Lytebox is added to it and that often presents a visual conflict. That's the case for me with this particular frame you have included in your image.

Nice ice dragon. Could use a bit more interior lighting.

It was indeed a jest but still and all your reply struck an honest cord. And thanks for this reply.

I had not considered the lytebox here as a containment but you are right that is how it works. What I need to remember is that what may look good on my monitor may not look so good here. Thanks.

I might get away with more interior lighting but I might loose the ice cave effect?
