    Just a light breeze

The result of many years of west winds gusting upwards of 90 to 100 kiometres per hour. I should go out there again as last year we had a chinook with gusts over 180. One was measured at 225 just north of me

    (Chinook definition: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinook_wind )

Beautiful capture, gorgeous light and detail. I adore all of your barn images, with the colour ones being my favourites but they are also beautiful in black and white.

Really an interesting capture, Trevor. Nicely composed. It is interesting how the level of demolition increases from left to right. It definitely tells a story.

We also get Chinook winds here. We had a series of them earlier this winter which really made a mess of things. When they come after extended cold, the snow melts from the warm wind but then re-freezes on the cold ground. In our case about a foot of accumulated snow turned into an inch of hard glaze ice. Not a good scenario on streets.

Beautiful B & W conversion complements the strong composition.

For Christina; a colour version. I cropped a bit tighter to have the tilted granary dominate. In colour the the wood texture is much less obvious so the colour of the wood needs to be the dominant aspect.

    Hi Trevor,

Truly appreciated. I love the warm tones seen on the wood and in the grass. Now please don't shoot me but I have to say that I prefer the b&w for this image (only), and that must be because you processed it so beautifully, and perhaps I'm just learning to appreciate all the details/texture seen in b&w images. That said I do know for sure that I prefer your wide views (big picture) barn scenes in colour, simply because the overall scenes and colours are stunningly beautiful.

    Thank you.

The color image is very nice. The monochrome image is special. Well done!

It took me while to discover the wide vista prairie shots work best, but only if there are clouds and the building is isolated with few trees about. Too much clutter or a clear blue sky and; yuck!

    LOL
All your images are gorgeous. I hope to find some flat land with foreground somewhere, someday. Perhaps I'll visit Dawson Creek, but during the summer.

I love the black & white version Trevor! There is a book of barns in you and I think it would be very popular

Another superb image Trevor to keep us wood fetishists happy.

I have to admit my immediate reaction was that I wood () certainly prefer it in colour but along with others as they have said the B&W works so well here.

I had joined hands with the camp of B/W even if the colour version is very nice too...what can I say that everyone hasn't said before? I am lost for words...Mr. Grumpy stole it...

I am on the fence on this one.

I love the color and patina of old woods, which shows in the color version here.

I also am very fond of grains, which show best in the b&w version.

Tough choices. Love the composition of the image itself, regardless of the PP.

I also like the colors of the wood in the rgb version but I think the black and white conversion was done very well. Nice balance and exposure. Nicely done!
