Re: Frames?
I personally don't like the frames. I am in complete agreement with Andy. In addition, I have the philosophy that "all images are born equal" and should be compared without unfair advantage. Does this imply that I do not like real-life picture frames either? yep

Re: Frames?
I started with the black and white border on my images about six years ago when I took over the mini-lab at work and prepared one of the walls to display pictures taken by the staff. I cropped all my shots to 14x9" expanded the canvas by 0.1" with a white line then took it to 15x10" with black - the reason being this is the largest print our Fuji Frontier can manage. The photographs seemed to pop when shown against the plain 18% grey wall - yes I painted it that colour on purpose - and it was meant to replace a traditional frame which would have been to expensive and not practical for a constantly changing display.
When I started to post pictures online I simply took my final Tiff, knocked it down to 800 pixels and saved it as a jpeg - every image I've posted since has had the same border, it has almost become my online signature.
