    Cosmeston Birds

Not been around for a while, work and other things getting in the way hope to be more 'visible' going forward now.

I had a bit of a day out today, normal stuff, seagulls, Mute Swans, Canada Geese, Blue Tits Great Tits etc, then spotted this little lady - a female Reed Bunting, dont normally see them in the branches especially this close and open so was happy to get this. I think its at this point that she saw me and the camera as she suddenly 'stood up' and stared directly at me

F5.6, 1/400sec, iso 200 300mm with tamron 70-300, cropped to aprox 1/2 of full frame

    Cosmeston Birds

I will add a couple more shots later when I have reviewed them all.

    C & C most welcome

Techs are nicely handled and the BG doesn't pose any distractions. She didn't do you any favors with that pose.

    Thanks John,

Dan, she was more accomodating - but the pose was so interesting it was worth the capture, this is more the type I wanted to ensure the ID etc

    Thanks Dave, appreciated

Now you're talking. That second shot is more like it. Back revealed and eye contact. Excellent.

But we each have our preferences

Just to say that I agree that the pose in the 2nd image is ideal, but the pose in the first image captures my heart for the story because it is such an adorable moment. (The expression on the birds face and the position of its feet.)

    Re: Cosmeston Birds

This little fella was nearly full frame aprox 80% of full frame - one of those step back moments - trying to catch the evening sun behind the bird to get a highlight - sort of worked, its a Blue Tit, Parus caeruleus

    F6.3 1/640th iso 1250 on Tamron 70-300 @300

    Cosmeston Birds

    as always C&C welcome

sorry just realised I used the wrong size setting for the image
    Thats better amended.

and a Blackbird, Turdus merula. Shame about the OOF branch in front of the foot, none are award winners but a good step forward from my first attempts

Good shot of the Blue Tit. A common bird in most UK gardens but they flit around so much, which always makes them difficult to focus quickly enough.

    Re: Cosmeston Birds

Thanks Geoff, yep - very flighty, but at Cosmeston they are used to being fed along the woodland path so you get lots of chances

The first one is very colourful although I like the clearer shot of #2 best...you really nailed the eyes there perfectly. It looks like it has been tagged too. Well done...

indeed they are sharp Izzie, its a Teasel, loads of them around on scrub land - very 'architectural' shape and the Goldfinches love the seeds they hold, how they perch on them without impaling themselves to pull out the seeds is amazing

ah now, that explains the feathers leftover by some birds...
