Framed my first photo from our Teton Park trip.

7 days in and around the Teton National Park and I've finally got one of my photos on the wall.

This was taken back in September at the Oxbow Bend. My first time up but it won't be my last. Anyway, the shot is pretty much what it was except for removing a few dust specs from the lens, slight contrast, pumped the color in the foliage a bit and did a contrast move on the water.

I'm sure you've all seen this view a thousand times but it's pretty special to me and one a cherished moment to me. If you're ever in the Tetons at the known places like this for photography reasons, remember the lawn chair and wine. Then get ready to meet some interesting people.

    C&C very much welcome.

Dave, you have a beautiful landscape image where most of the interesting elements are in horizontal.

You have already printed this one, but consider for similar future landscape images, using a wider aspect ratio of perhaps 16:9 or even 2:1. You may loose a bit of the water in the foreground or alternatively, some of the sky, but it would take the subject of the dead centerline and help make the subject more prominent in the composition. Hope this helps!

I see the view for the very first time, so I can comment without knowing:

To my eyes the "blues" are to much "light blue"; too contrasting to the "yellows", but if you remember seeing it so, it is your decision.

In any case I would consider to crop from the bottom a little bit to eliminate the bottom cloud reflections.
    Good frame

Dave, you created your own version of a classic. Nicely done. What medium did you print it on? Those brilliant colors and detail just beg to be printed on metal.

Last time we were there (2011 I think), I was amazed at how many people will stop in their cars at these classic spots, jump out for a minute or two, snap a photo and leave. Society is really on the go nowadays.

Dan, I had ritzpix print it for $20 with a somewhat satin finish. I had full expectation of having color issues with them but surprisingly the print came out really nice. We've decided to print one of these as a gift to our family that lives up around the area and will most likely take your advise and try the metallic print.

I agree about society being in a hurry and we did witness some of that but for the most part we had a great time shooting and visiting both at the beaver dam and at oxbow. My girlfriend was wearing her Alabama hat and when she does the world seems to shrink. She meets roll tide fans everywhere and we ended up with a small group talking about football, cameras and what-to-dos in both places.

I did notice that we were the only ones using the photography pull offs in yellowstone not just for photography but to get the hell out of everyone's way. lol. A Texan in Yellowstone for the first time had us driving pretty slow.

Now with that you want to bui ld a full wall window frame attach it to a wall and print that the same size and put it into the 'window' so as if thats the view out your window - make sure its in front of a large breakfast bar and enjoy the view every morning

Nice composition, as to the mountains there seems to be a little much of the blue tint , maybe adjust the temperatures , but again a beautiful piece of work.

Sure, this one was shot with my d7100 and nikkor 16-35 lens.
    Iso 100, 1/80th @ f16.

Post work was done in Capture One Pro
I tweaked the curve a little, added some detail in the clouds with my High Dynamic Range with my highlights and did a natural clarity of 15 clarity over 13 structure.
I did a color edit to the orange foliage with a saturation move.
I did a second move on the water contrast and brought that into photoshop and masked out the background so that the water has a slightly higher contrast move than anything else.

It was a well lit day.

Very good Dave and well worth printing. I'm sure this needs to be viewed at a larger size than here to appreciate the full impact of the scene.

If it were mine I would also use a 16:9 crop to remove some of the water.

+1 That was the first thought I had when I saw this. VERY nice shot. If you get it done on metal, get as big a print that the resolution (and your wallet) will provide. I had one of my photos of Denali NP done on an 11x17 aluminum from Adoramapix and it came out AWESOME. This one you will be amazed with if you put it on metal. My print was only $52 including shipping so it wasn't too much of an impact to the wallet.

I am with the too much blue fan club here...but otherwise a remarkable shot!
