    A Different Egg

I really need to get out for a photo day! Tried some experiments at home today and this is one of the results. In doing the processing I played around with the curves adjustment and the egg turned into a rainbow. It isn't the look I was going for but figured I would leave it as a "fantasy piece". I know it is a bit strange but thought I would post to see what you people thought. Maybe I need to just scrap it and start from scratch???

Don't you dare trash this shot! If nothing else it offers all of us an inspiring way to highlight objects. I am wondering how it would look with an ivory white egg and the rest the same.

It looks like you chose "solarize" curve, a filter that Scott Kelby suggests to only use when you've had quite a few glasses of wine.

A good still life well executed

I would have liked NOT to see the egg and background meet

Keep it as a reminder that you can create an image past simply squeezing the shutter.

A nice touch and it is through experimentation that one learns .Now what's for breakfast hard boiled or soft boiled eggs.

    Hi Rita,

Very creative. I adore the rainbow egg. I think this would look great with a normal fork and background with the curves adjustment applied just to the egg. Or photograph the fork again without the egg, and then put this egg on the fork.

    Re: A Different Egg

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions.

Brian, the original egg was quite shaded on the raw image. I will see what I can do to get it in ivory. The result will be posted later.

John, I have never heard of the "solarize" curve and there was no wine involved either. Hmmm, maybe that's the problem

Jeremy, looking at this again I think your right on this. I can retry the shot so the egg doesn't come so far up.

Chauncy, now if I only remembered each step I did

Raymond, this egg was hard boiled, I know how clumsy I can be and didn't cherish cleaning egg up. However, it isn't for breakfast because I ate it for dinner last night

Christina, I will give this a try also. I do have some other pics of the fork so I will see what I can do.

A great shot and as you've noted, worth another go. Happy more experimenting.

Now that you mention it I think I vaguely recall seeing this species at a couple of Grateful Dead concerts!

Hi Izzie, yes, I plan to play a bit more with the idea.
