    Charlie the lodger

A first pet photo for me to post

Charlie moved into the road some months ago with the new neighbours next door. He was tatty, thin, and on more that one occasion we witnessed the obnoxious brats that we assume are a bye product of the even more obnoxious parents throwing stones at him and even kicking him.

Thankfully Charlie (our name for him) had the sense to use our place as a refuge, and I suspect our own female cat may have weighed his decision partly. He has become a very welcome part of the family and returns the affection we believe he deserves from us.

This morning whilst outside trying to photograph a lizard Charlie decided to sit up on the barbecue, one of his favourite watch the world go by locations and lie there watching my antics.

    How could I resist.........................

I'm sure it was my photographic skills he was admiring or was it a potential meal

A very nice capture Grahame. I am sure he is enjoying the loving refuge he has found at your home.

Good for you for offering him refuge, Grahame...as long as the bar-b is not lit, it should be OK for him to sit down there...a different story if it is still hot...

Thanks for commenting guys, not sure I'll go into pet photography but you have to try something different now and again

All of our dogs and cats over my years here have come from unusual or rescue sources and have been great friends except one small ginger female we have that I can't get near without being hissed at, spat at, clawed or bitten.

I'm not sure what the regular 'cliché' shots are for cats Kaye but I'll certainly investigate so I can steer clear of them

    Hi Marie,

His appearance now is always one of being contented and he has this wonderful habit of talking (meowing in cat terms) as soon as he sees you.

The eyes have it Grahame, well composed too, though it could be improved if you had included the ears. There's always a next time with your visiting feline.

A cliché = For me, there are too many 'pet' pictures where the owner is proud of their pet, loves them to bits of course, but the photo they've taken, whilst meaningful to them, is not that good but it is insisted we look at them. Most of these are on the iphone these days rather than thankfully on CiC. Same with babies........

He'd rather not have his ears in frame at present Peter, one looks like an opponent got a good right hook in with their claw

Fortunately I do not come across many of those images Kaye but as a photographer instinct dictates certain things we must attain before even showing a picture generally.
