How not to cook an egg

After my first egg (the rainbow) attempt I thought I would try something else with the egg theme. So playing around I came up with this tonight. Got a little bit lucky when I dropped the egg and it only cracked, this one wasn't cooked

Any feedback good or bad is appreciated.

My settings were f 16, SS 1/20, ISO 100, with just a bit of flash.

I love the concept. If you ever find out how not have a candle flame a tad overexposed please tell me the secret.

Very novel Rita. My first impression was that you should not be using a plastic spoon to do it but then realised what looked like the egg on the underside of the spoon was the reflection of the candle holder

Yes I like it, well done.

Uh oh...another Terry (Loose Canon) in the making...love that shot anyway, Rita. Using your imagination on what you want to achieve is a very commendable thing, apart from slowing down the rate of alzeihmer's ...(through brain exercise.. true story.) In the meantime I am still trying to make out the effect of the candle and where you have placed it in, why you made it so nicely gritty and all that comes with thoughts of the morning without end....

Re: How not to cook an egg

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I must say that I had a lot of fun playing with this one.

Brian, I found the flame to be a challenge. If I got the flame right then everything else was too dark and vice versa. I think if I had used my tripod then 2 shots might have been possible, 1 exposed for the candle and 1 exposed for the flame and then combine them. At least this sounds good in my head but I will have to try it out.

Grahame, it was a plastic spoon. I used it so that the egg could be seen through it but then lucked out with the flame reflecting in it as well

    Peter, thank you.

Greg, yes, the magic of photoshop.

Izzie, the candle was on a small glass plate, you can just see it a bit under the candle. The candle itself had some grittiness to it so that helped with the overall look. The rest of the effect was due to not having all of the candle exposed.

    Thanks John.

Thank you David. Nice to see you back again

nice concept well executed, the spoon handel is just a lttle too short and seems incompleate or wrong but thats my only issue, put a smile on my face tho.... time for some beer and a bigger smile for me!!!

This is excellent Rita! My kinda shot!

Very nice job of bringing this to reality and this one has it all!

I can think of several ways you might have done this and they all involve Magic and feats of prestidigitation!

    Very well done Rita!

Mark, thanks for the feedback. I will look at the handle and see what I can do with it.

Terry, much appreciated. I don't usually do this sort of thing but must admit that I had a whole lot of fun working on it
