great theme...Mark, you've captured some really good detail and textures from the windows. The third really stands out

Thanks Kev, appreciated
it was sunny today and so i took the opportunity after doing the chores to go for a drive around an old airfield near us - disused hangar doors - even the graffiti is suffering from dereliction !
#1
There is also a derelict single story building - as long as we have lived here its been derelict at some level but has degenerated a lot more over the last few years
#2
#3
C & C welcome,

I have spent a bit of time thinking about this and where it can go -
noun: dereliction
the state of having been abandoned and become dilapidated:
Given my main area of interest I decided to try this - and step outside my 'zone' of in the wild ( its raining ) and set up a basic indoor micro studio, so using a couple of led light strips rather than flash and not a lot more -
C & C welcome as always
Great findings; liked them all
Thanks Nandakumar, appreciated
#1 shows a real decaying place there...old places are interesting but to the uninitiated, they are a distraction to the eyes that quickly think of how to make the most of it in dollars and cents. I like the composition you did there.
#2 is most interesting in that the peeling paint looked at expanded in lytebox really depicts the decay you had wanted to show. Interesting that, that hangar door has bricks around it. Must be once a hangar for larger style airplane of old...now it gets me wondering what was stored in that place...or would it have been a commercial hangar of such? There must be a story to that...
#3 Yes, the growth of ivies in an abandoned place is expected. I like the angle of the shot here.
#4 -- the shell is a nice find...I like the lighting here and the composition. Shells reminds me of fibonacci everytime...what do you mean by micro studio. Since it is raining was this done outside or inside? It looks outside-dee to me unless you took the time to gather some twigs for your background...I like this one very much for its simplicity...even the sharpness in the inclusion of the background.
Hi Izzie, thanks, the hangar was part of a old military airfield now defunct, one end is used for storage but this end is left to 'fade away'
The building was very interesting, I really liked the light was on the other side of the building hence the shot through one window and out the opposite. The ivy is great - i love the way it attaches itself
The micro studio was indoors with some moss on wood that i have sitting outside, I collected it a little while ago for a fungi that was growing on it but it failed to fruit this time around. I am hoping it will in the future as its Mutinus caninus and i dont have a record shot of that - so I brought it indoors and set up some led lights around it and put the shell on it then played to get the shot
Yes about the ivy crawling...the bottom that attaches to anything is very interesting -- it is similar to caterpillar legs only, it does not move...
Is the micro studio is located where you live inside the house? how do you feed the fungi? What condition should it be in? does it have some little flying insects with it? Should it always be wet?It sounds interesting ... looks like it can be grown like a glass garden or something.....tell me more.
nope - it is in a plastic tub sitting in the garden in a tray of rain water - the moss is growing on rotting wood that the fungi is growing in so I placed the lump of wood in a container that will help keep it damp, fungi likes damp - no need to feed it - thats what the wood does - no insects at this time of year, I will be away for a few days from tomorrow night but will photo it on my return and put it up here. The fungi is a complex network of very thin micro hyphae - look like very thin roots the fungi we 'see' are the fruiting bodies. Fungi are often refered to as the fith kingdom they are fascinating and uber important to us really Sorry, can get a bit carried away with this stuff.
had a trip out to visit Mother in Law last week until Saturday, came home via Hay on Wye and decided to look for a few Dereliction images - here is one I have done a bit of PP on - This is about 50% of the frame to focus on the window frame

Mark, That must be Ivy's house
Certainly it suits the thread's title.
The composition and processing work for me, with one exception.
It is uploaded 1600 px tall, but most monitors are not, so I cannot view it at 100% without needing to scroll up and down, which loses the composition
May I suggest that if an image is portrait orientation, it should be downsized to no more than 900 - 1000 px tall (regardless of width).
HTH, Dave
Cheers Dave, - Ivy better do a bit more watering
resized, hope that fits better
Nice shots,
Like your idea of indoor/outdoor set up.
I have recently acquired a abandoned fish tank and use this for a more controlled area.
I like to see and hear what others are doing.
Thank you Jill
Very nice image Mark.
Thank you Binnur, much appreciated
Hey...I am late a few days but now that I am back on US soil, I think this shot is good ... good job on the PP too. And when I get over my jetlag, I will start looking for an indoor/outdoor plot to use for my photography prop too...
