John, I like it the only thing that bugs me is that darned parking lot.
Nice capture John, love the sky
Very nice image, John. I don't usually like star bursts but these are so subtle that I especially like them. I also like that the person is viewing his electronic device, indicating a sign of the times. I wouldn't change a thing, including the parking lot (it provides real-world context).
Don't change a thing.
What a moment in time!!!!
love this.

John, that makes the trip worth it - while not the shot you went for I think it is brilliant, the colours, the layout, the subject all come together, I would not change any of it. The guys bag being red pulls you to him as the main subject, his attention to his electronic device within the context of the station tell a great story.
It's got it all John, unique !
Yep, an absolute belter ... as they say! Well done, John.
Great shot John, the sky is amazing.
The opposite direction almost always seems to hold the prize. Nicely captured.
Terrific indeed, I cannot find anything that I would like to see different. It is wonderful as is.
Thanks all for some great comments. It was the gleam on the rails that first caught my eye but the figure completed the story. You're right about the parking lot Mark. I don't mind its being there but the angle of the sun caused some diverting reflection from the windscreens that I had to get rid of.
Star bursts are funny things Mike. They often appear when you don't want them and when you do, they don't materialise. I think it's down to the lens you are using as well as the f stop. In this case, I do quite like them. Need to have a word with the station master though and get him to replace the bulb in the third lamp from the right.
Thanks all again.
John - I really like this image. You've really nailed the mood beautifully; the lighting, the setting and of course, the single passenger standing there is what really makes this image for me. Without him, I suspect that this shot would loose a lot of its character.
Nicely done!
Thanks Manfred. Means a lot from you.
I like the composition, John. The photographer on the platform is awake to the beauty of the scene, while the traveller has his head stuck in the phone. .... Maybe he also took a picture of the sunset and is looking at it on his phone.
Beautiful John, simply beautiful!
Indeed, an exceptionally beautiful image with a story.
That is VERY nice John, congratulations.
If I have one suggestion, that would be that (if mine), I would perhaps clone out just the car roof between the two left hand lamp stands.
The only other thing that looks untidy are the cables along the far platform face, I might consider toning those down - or if I were the stationmaster, get them straightened out
That shot was worth it all I reckon. Yeah. It says such a lot- from the countryside, nature, industry, technological age- I like the dimensionalism of the visual and the subject.
Pity about the trains though. I once stood for 3 hours on a bridge in Harrogate (duff info) to take a steam train coming through , and got shrouded in smoke when it did come!
