A Bike Race scene
I haven't abandoned my project 52, I just haven't had a chance to upload each week.
One of the images from last week is this one, I tried to do something different when the bike race came to town last weekend.
I'm not sure if this works or not, I think it might have been better if I was positioned more to the rt... But anyway it was good to try & do something different.

As you say, Kay, it's about trying to get something different. I like this because of that. It tells a whole story. It's a very 'news' image. There could never be any doubt about the fact that this is a bike race come to town. The picture tells you everything you need to know.

Re: A Bike Race scene
I go along with Donald! This would be a nice portion of a photo story on the bike race. I even like the power poles (which is something I usually dislike in an image) because they provide an illusion of depth in the image...

If you can't avoid something, like those poles, the only alternative is to make a feature of them.
That angle does work. I suspect that if you moved to the right you would need to go well to the right before you found any other suitable angles.

Re: A Bike Race scene
Thankyou John, Donald, Richard & Geoff.
This was the women's race held the day before a final professional ride for Cadel Evans. Cadel was born in Darwin, but spent many years living here in a lovely village called Barwon Heads, some 15 minutes out of the City of Geelong. It is an idyllic spot, but it does get lots of Mosquitos....this of course is the reason we haven't downsized & retired there.... the price tag of the homes being the other small, impediment!
Anyway my neighbours across the road just before the hill in the photo, came up with this most clever sign for the men's race on the Sunday. Unfortunately the weather was bleak on the Sunday, as our town & beach coastline was filmed by 4 helicopters as the race went through.
All items are bits of bike, except the squeegy mop for the 'L' clever aren't they.
