    Evening Snow Trees C&C Welcomed

Last night there was a break in the snow storm (8:45pm), so decided to test out the limits of the native ISO on my camera.

This was shot at ISO 25,600; 1/100; F2.8; 62mm. The only light was from one flood light on the house. I did the initial rendering; however, today during my mentoring session, I learned how to enhance it by pulling out some of the noise by using color adjustments, clarity adjustments, etc. It was an extremely helpful session.

To those who have seen my work, you know I like the spooky winter shot. I'm sharing two renderings:

1 - This is the artistic rendering of the scene:

2 - Here is the more traditional B&W rendering:

I would prefer it without the heavy solid band at the bottom.

Not sure about the snowflakes in the B&W particularly at the base of the trees. To some extent it seems more spotty than snowy?

Certainly a testing scene and I like the way those tree tops merge into darkness.

Thanks for viewing and commenting Geoff. The soild band on the bottom is a now 3 foot snow base. The items you mention are dead leaves - they are scattered throughout the tree. For some reason this tree holds on to leaves. The noise doesn't help either of the items you mention. Considering the high ISO, and darkness of last night, i was pleased that the camera captured what it did of my favorite tree in our yard.

Its a pretty cool shot, I prefer the first one. It definitely has a "spooky" feel to it.

Pic #1 gets my nod , yeah the bottom can do without . Little noise for such a high ISO.

With an image like this you can really ignore noise. I think any visible would add additional texture to the composition.
