    Kruger Birds

Whenever I go to the Kruger Park I get excited by the idea of great bird photography and this trip didn't disappoint. Especially the European Rollers were in abundance, nearly sitting in every tree. Unfortunately I didn't manage to capture one in flight, they have an amazing electric blue underside to their wings.

This trip was also a good learning experience as I decided to focus a lot more on technique and getting a technically good shot rather than just catching the moment, this did however annoy the rest of the group a little as I sat for long periods at a time focusing on one little bird

I too like the pose of #4. The vulture looks good too. I always think of a vulture as an ugly bird but this pose is nicely done...

Bird photography is definitely an activity best conducted in private. Or among those of like mind

You succeeded in you attempt at the techs. All are nicely handled. And the poses in all are also interesting. The shrike is really excellent. You choice of crops on the others are atypical. Which for these particular shots doesn't increase their appeal IMO.

I can imagine the comments of the company; like: it is only a bird, we want to see a lion hunting or you already made two pictures, let us go on.

The pictures are technically good; insofar you managed your intenteion.
I especially like the perfect Nr. 2 roller and the pose of the shrike

    Thanks Matt!

Thanks Chauncey! Lots of what I applied in them I learned here!

    Thanks Dan

Thanks Erwin, yup all I pretty much heard all the time is "we want lions" or "we want a leopard"
